Our Maneki Neko Collection (Part 1)

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Previous | Next

My husband Brett and I first learned about the Maneki Neko when we attended the Japanese Bobtail Fanciers Show in Wisconsin in 1998. Brett gave me a good start on my collection when he bought me several Maneko Nekos for my birthday.

This Maneki Neko is very ornately handpainted. It is carved out of alabaster.

Here is another ornately handpainted Maneki Neko. The blue & white Japanese Bobtails surrounding it are chopstick holders.

This is my largest Maneki Neko. It stands over 18” tall.

These two are really cute. The head on the Maneki Neko on the right bobs.

These Maneki Nekos flank a pewter Japanese Bobtail figurine.

A Jade Maneki Neko Necklace.

A Maneki Neko candy dish.

A gold Maneki Neko beckons financial success.

A white Maneki Neko Bell...

...and a black Maneki Neko Bell.

A papier-mache Maneki Neko figure. We believe that it may be from the Showa period (early 20th century). It’s definitely unique.

A Maneki Neko snuff decanter.
